Bedrooms
Every bedroom is different. Although they may be different shapes, all are spacious and each is individual in décor and outlook. Residents are encouraged, if they wish, to bring pictures, family or personal items with which to make their rooms more familiar.
Every room has a television point and a remote call system.
All rooms are ensuite. Most have their own wet room containing shower, toilet and washbasin. There is a bathroom with an Argo bath lift.
All residents’ laundry is done in-house.
Sitting Rooms
Inside, there are five different sitting areas, including a conservatory, outside which is a small sheltered patio.
The sitting rooms are furnished with comfortable chairs in small groups and plenty of space. One sitting room has large picture windows looking out over the garden where there is much to see, including a small pond, trees and flowers and bird feeders attracting wildlife. Residents and their visitors can meet in any of these spaces, or in residents’ own rooms.

Garden
The garden is easily accessible by a lift, so there is no need for people or wheelchairs to negotiate slopes or steps. There is a wheelchair-usable path and garden benches for sitting out on sunny days. In summer there is always a special garden fete for the residents, their friends and families when we get out all the picnic tables, garden umbrellas and the pergola and we have stalls and some live music. Green-fingered residents may enjoy pottering in the garden if they wish, planting out or dead heading.
Recreation
There is always something going on at Hylands. Throughout the year we have a Music Therapist, an exercise therapist, music snd singing sessions, parties, dancing, films, outings, family occasions, and creative activities for all who wish to take part.
